When our grandchildren come to visit they spend most of the time at the beach, boat rides to nearby beaches, activities at the Plaza Municipal by the Virgen de Guadalupe Church, and the Malecón. The malecón and plaza often have kid centered activities like the big rocking horses right now.
Besides above here are some other activities we have done and enjoyed with our kids at that age.
Parque de la Isla Cuale & Centro Cultural
In addition to the beautiful plants, trees, small animals (iguanas, birds, cats) there is a small children’s playground there. My children enjoyed walking to the edge of the rio too which is safe and watch the river, the birds, and other animals.
They have often have art classes which we have taken. You just need to contact them.

Gringo Gulch Bridge (Right by Isla Cuale)
A step bridge from the Isla to Gringo Gulch neighborhood. Nice hike up and around that neighborhood which goes down to the plaza. You have to hold the kids’s hands and watch their steps. Well, everywhere you walk in Puerto Vallarta you have to watch your steps at any age.
Jardin Botánico de Puerto Vallarta
A bus ride from the city, which is another thing our kids loved, to this place is worth it. The botanical garden is amazing and a fun place to visit with kids.. plants, fish in a pond, river nearby, easy hike for families.
But when I asked my grandchildren what were their favorite memories of being here. The ones, who have replied, have said the Isla Rio Cuale where they got to play freely and safely and especially see the cats there. They also said stuff like eating special food, like churros by the church here in our neighborhood and getting pan birote by the nearby mercado or panadería and having it with chocolate at night.

To get to the house from the airport you can take the Libramiento. After the second tunnel turn right on Naranjo St., then turn right on Cardenas St, then turn right on Camichin St. The house is in front of the Tortillería and there is a big tree in front of the house.
